complEmenting our drafting services beautifully is our freelance pa & secretarial service.
We offer a highly professional PA and secretarial service, focusing on the legal industry, which is proving to be a fast-growing area of our business. This service is provided entirely by our director, Rachel Harding. Here’s what she has to say :
“Writing has always been a passion of mine in both my personal and professional lives. From a young age, I kept a diary or journal to help release the thoughts and clutter in my busy, often fractious, mind! I found, and still do find, that it helped to get my thoughts and feelings down on paper and freed up space in my mind for far more productive and positive thoughts! At school, English was my favourite subject by far and I had the same English teacher, the wonderful Mrs Naylor, for the entire seven years that I was at secondary school – somewhat of a rarity these days. After attaining A’level English I took my love of the subject further by returning to university as a mature student to study English Language & Literature at Reading University. I loved every minute of the course, despite starting it with a toddler and a newborn at home and having not long completed 6-years of legal training!
When my children were young, I stepped away from working full-time as a litigation lawyer (not a family-friendly job, as anyone in the profession will tell you!). I found the perfect solution to keeping my legal knowledge up-to-date and being able to do what I love – write – by drafting articles for law firms which they then used on their website and in their marketing materials. It meant I was able to write about a whole different range of legal topics and it gave me a few years of excellent experience in which I was able to develop and grow my own writing style.
I feel extremely privileged to be able to continue to pursue both law and copywriting in my current role. Drafting wills is all about taking somebody’s wishes for what happens to their assets after their death and transforming them into a legally binding document, like putting together the pieces of a puzzle, and copywriting gives me the freedom to express myself on the page on a whole range of different subjects and to help other businesses do the same!”
